Work as an elixir of joy!

We continue our acquaintance with the work of the rehabilitation team of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.V. Sklifosovsky.

Rehabilitation nurse Nadiia Zhytchenko works in the room with patient Yevhen Tkachenko.

- Good morning, friends! Please tell us, what disease brought you to the hospital and how are you fighting it?

- Good morning. My name is Evgeniy. I have been suffering from arthrosis of the right arm for a long time, I was treated regularly, but my condition did not improve.  And now I was admitted to the traumatology department with 3rd degree arthrosis of the right hand. I underwent surgery, and then I was transferred to rehabilitation, where I have been recovering for a week and a half.

At present, thanks to the help of the rehabilitation nurse Nadezhda Yurievna, we are training the muscles of the right arm, the muscles have strengthened and the pain in the joint after the operation has disappeared. We continue to work fruitfully on the simulators. I thank all the medical staff for their care and help!

- Ms. Nadiia, tell us about your work, because most of the patients need your help.

- Good morning! I have been working in the hospital for more than 20 years, and until 2022 I worked in the physiotherapy department.

Since the beginning of the war, the hospital has seen an increase in the number of people suffering from shelling and injuries who need help. Perhaps this influenced my decision to continue working at the rehabilitation center. The hospital used to provide mainly acute and emergency care, but there was a need for recovery from illness and surgery. That is what made me move to the center. After all, I like helping people, seeing patients recover, seeing the results of my own work and, in general, seeing the dynamics of teamwork.

As in Yevhen's case - with limb injuries or diseases - we see positive dynamics in the range of motion and muscle strength. The improvement of the patient's condition is the elixir of satisfaction for which we all work.

In general, I enjoy working with the people in the department and being part of a great team.

- I thank the whole team of the center and wish them new successes and all patients a quick and full recovery!
