The Rehabilitation Medical Center in Poltava received the third tranche of humanitarian aid under the Ukrainian-German project.

The equipment will be used for rehabilitation of civilians and military personnel after injuries, illnesses and wounds. Vitaliy Shevchenko, executive director of the charity organization Hospital Fund of Poltava Region, told Suspilne.

"According to the Ukrainian-German hospital cooperation project, today we received the third tranche of aid - rehabilitation simulators for various muscle groups. For 9 months we have been working with the Germans, our friends have been helping us with equipment and lectures. There was a conference in Berlin where representatives of Ukraine and Germany were present. There are several such projects in Ukraine and they will continue to develop," said Vitaliy Shevchenko, Executive Director of the Hospital Fund of Poltava Region.

Ihor, a warrior of the rifle battalion, came to the center for treatment a few days ago. "I had a hernia in my back. I was sent to Poltava for treatment. Here I underwent an MRI, all the examinations prescribed by doctors. Today they told me that I need to do some exercises on some simulators," Igor said.

The rehabilitation center first received humanitarian aid last year.

"The first help started in October, when beds arrived. In January, beds, wardrobes, cabinets for all departments and the first exercise machines arrived," said Vitaliy Shevchenko, executive director of the Poltava Oblast Hospital Fund.

"We have received exercise machines that restore the strength of the back and upper limbs, and we have also received a device that measures muscle strength at the beginning and end of our rehabilitation activities. When the patient regains the muscle strength of all these organs and structures, he will be able to balance and stand upright," added Iryna Pchelintseva, head of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center. The rehabilitation center has been in operation for 1.5 years, Pchelintseva said.

"About 800 patients have been rehabilitated. Most of them are patients who were injured or suffered from the consequences of diseases of the nervous or locomotor systems," said Iryna Pchelintseva, head of the rehabilitation medical center.

"There are a lot of people with leg and back injuries. And they really need these simulators. It's nice to have someone who cares about your health besides your family," said Igor, a patient.

According to Vitaliy Shevchenko, the director of the charity organization, the partnership project between the Ukrainian and German hospitals will continue for another 4 months. During this time new tranches of humanitarian aid are expected.
