Seeing the patient's steps makes you happy.

We continue to get acquainted with the members of the rehabilitation team of the Center of rehabilitation medicine at the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.V. Sklifosovsky:

We talk to Yulia Palonka, a doctor of physical and rehabilitation medicine.

-          How long have you been working at the hospital and what motivates you to do this hard work?

- I have been working as a doctor in this institution for more than 20 years. I lead a multidisciplinary team, assess the functional activity of the patient, and decide on the possibility of change and the prognosis of rehabilitation. Together with my colleagues, we develop a rehabilitation and recovery plan. You have to be an expert in the most important rehabilitation technologies and techniques, know the social system and legislation, and use this knowledge constantly.

I coordinate the entire rehabilitation process, identify risks, determine which techniques can help restore important body functions faster, adjust patient care programs, and always use the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health.

The work is really hard, not only physically but also emotionally. It never leaves you at home, because the process of selecting treatment regimens, maintaining medical records, filling out an electronic system, analyzing medical history, analyzing the patient's abilities, choosing exercises, an individual rehabilitation complex - all this is constantly practiced and running through your head.

You always remember the face of each patient, see the pain in their eyes, sometimes helplessness, often hope for improvement.

And after the rehabilitation plan is selected, after many days of exercises, sometimes through the patient's tears, through long hours of pain, but the desire for recovery - when you see the patient's steps, his independent movements - you begin to feel satisfied with sleepless nights, nervous weekends, but such joyful moments.

-         We thank you and your team for helping to restore the health of Ukrainians. And we wish you success in your important work.

-         We wish the patients a quick recovery!

-          We are grateful to our friends from Germany for the medical equipment that will help restore health to Ukrainians.
