In the process of setting up the equipment received under the project, we spoke with Svitlana Sakun, a senior nurse at the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine.
- Ms. Sakun, how has the work of the department changed since the Center was established?
- Previously, we provided assistance only for neurological diseases, but since January 2, 2023, the direction of assistance has significantly expanded. Our center receives patients after strokes, heart attacks, traumas and wounded military and civilians from the hot areas of our country for rehabilitation. Today, with an experienced medical staff and a concept for the development of the rehabilitation department, the Center provides professional and high quality rehabilitation care to all who need it. In the pre-war period, the question of establishing and equipping rehabilitation centers was an urgent one.
The creation of a professional adult rehabilitation center in the heart of Ukraine will open the way to new opportunities for many people who have suffered mainly from the war. The rehabilitation center employs a highly qualified team of specialists: doctors of physical and rehabilitation medicine, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants, psychologists, masseurs, nurses and nurse assistants. The center's medical staff provides round-the-clock, highly qualified care to restore physical and psychological functions of the body, which helps patients recover and adapt to everyday life.
