On July 1, 2023, the implementation of an international cooperation project between the Altmühlseeklinik Hensoltshöhe (Germany) and the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after Sklifosovskyi (Ukraine) to support the Ukrainian health care system and promote its restoration. The goal of the project is to help develop the hospital's Center for Rehabilitation Medicine to provide rehabilitation services to the needy in the Poltava region.
In August an introduction to the work of the center was made, the available equipment and functional capabilities depending on the pathology and the equipment of the center were studied. An analysis of the provided rehabilitation care for 7 months of work was carried out according to the directions of patients' recovery.
According to the patient's diagnoses and necessary rehabilitation, together with the medical staff, the need for rehabilitation equipment was formed in order to expand the directions of patient's care and the need for medical equipment for wards (beds, bedside tables, cabinets) for comfortable stay and faster recovery of patients. In the future the necessary equipment will be purchased and transferred to Poltava.
The GIZ funding program 'Partnerships between Hospitals - Partners Strengthen Health' supports collaboration between German hospitals, universities, colleges, and non-governmental organizations with partner organizations in other countries.
The project is ongoing.
The next stage involves the exchange of experience through educational lectures by German colleagues for teams of rehabilitation medicine in the Poltava region.
The State Health Authority of Poltava region reports that 22 hospitals have signed the "Medical rehabilitation" packages, including 'Medical Rehabilitation of Infants, Born Prematurely and/or Diseased in the First Three Years of Life' (4 packages), 'Rehabilitation Assistance for Adults and Children in Inpatient Conditions' (16 packages), and 'Rehabilitation Assistance for Adults and Children in Outpatient Conditions' (22 packages).
We hope that medical professionals at these hospitals will be interested in the experience of their foreign colleagues.
We express our gratitude to the medical workers for their hard work. Additionally, we extend our thanks to our partners and friends in Germany for their unwavering support and assistance.
The project 'Partnership between hospitals - partners strengthen health' is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) as part of the grant program 'Support of partnerships in the field of health care' of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
