I sincerely thank the staff of the regional hospital for my recovery

We continue to meet with the team of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.V. Sklifosovsky.

Physical therapist assistant Ilya Volodchenko works with a patient.

- Hello, please tell us about your recovery in this center.

- Good morning. My name is Serhiy, I was admitted to the center after an operation in the neurosurgical department to remove an intervertebral hernia.

I became ill suddenly when my right leg and foot gave out. I have been recovering at the center for 7 days now. The team here is very wonderful, they do their best to make us all confident and start walking on our own as soon as possible.

Experienced instructors give us classes and help us with exercises. I arrived in a wheelchair. A week later, I can move independently with crutches, I started to move my foot - I give a brain signal, my leg gradually starts to act, my leg muscles have strengthened.

I sincerely thank the staff of the regional hospital for my recovery.

Ilya Volodchenko: I started working at the center on December 1, 2022. I like my work. At the beginning of our work we did not have so many simulators, the existing equipment was a bit outdated. Then local authorities and foreign friends of Ukraine started helping us to equip the center. The list of mechanical training equipment has grown, which helps us a lot. With their help we pump up the strength and endurance of the patients' muscles. When we see the patients' desire to walk, we immediately try to transfer them from wheelchairs to walkers or crutches so that they can move actively.

The department is currently well equipped with the major groups of simulators and equipment, and it would be possible to add mechanical flexors and extensors.

The team is wonderful. I was lucky to start my career in such a hospital.

- I thank the hospital staff for their work and wish all the patients a speedy recovery!
