We continue to meet with the team and patients of the Rehabilitation Medicine Center of the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M.V. Sklifosovsky.
Natalia Alenina, an occupational therapist, is working with the patient and conducting rehabilitation:
- The science of occupational therapy has appeared in Ukraine quite recently. It aims to both restore the patient's body functions and teach the patient to perform everyday tasks as independently as possible, and to restore labor skills if possible.
Ergotherapy is used as a component of the treatment process in patients to improve the quality of life, return a person not only to independent care, but also to diversify their leisure time.
After getting to know the patient, we assess the disabilities. We create an individualized program of classes, which will mainly focus on sensory stimulation, restoration of self-care skills and return to daily activities.
We ask the patient how their treatment and recovery is going.
- Good afternoon. My name is Mykola, I am 18 years old. I got to the Rehabilitation Medicine Center after intensive care.
At first I did not understand what an occupational therapist was.
Now I know exactly what it is, because Natalia Volodymyrivna taught me many skills, especially self-care skills, which makes me independent.
I also returned to my favorite pastime and leisure - painting.
Natalia Volodymyriv gave me many recommendations for the future. They should help me to return to my former lifestyle.
I thank the hospital staff for my treatment and recovery. I wish you development and daily improvement. Your work helps us to live.
- I thank the staff of the Center of rehabilitation medicine for their fruitful work, for the restored health of Ukrainians and wish them new successes and achievements! And I wish all patients of the center a speedy recovery!
