The Rehabilitation Medicine Center in Poltava has received the fourth installment of humanitarian assistance from Germany

This marks the fourth occasion that the center has received such aid as part of a Ukrainian-German initiative. The shipment includes physiotherapy furniture and exercise equipment.

The rehabilitation center received 11 pieces of equipment. Vitaliy Shevchenko, Ukrainian coordinator of the hospital partnership project, provided this information to Suspilne. The equipment will be used to assist patients in their recovery from injuries, illnesses, and wounds.

"This is the final shipment, the fourth in total. It contains functional devices for physiotherapists, chairs, and training equipment that were not delivered in the previous batches. This complete set will be sufficient for all areas of rehabilitation, for all muscle groups," said Vitaliy Shevchenko.

It also entails offering our classes and training, which are provided by our partners from Germany. "Rehabilitation in Ukraine is still in its infancy, so this is a significant step forward for us."

Yevhen Babuta from the Sumy region is undergoing rehabilitation with the help of German training equipment for various muscle and joint groups. He was unable to walk on his own due to an inflammation of the spinal cord. The man told Suspilne:

"I have a young specialized trainer. He works with me, does exercises. He stretches me, kneads me, puts me on exercise machines. In two weeks, the trainer had me back on my feet and walking. Now I can take steps.

"Our department specializes mainly in the rehabilitation of patients who have suffered injuries or diseases of the musculoskeletal or nervous systems. That is why all the training machines and rehabilitation equipment we have received are basically designed to increase the range of motion of joints and muscle strength," said Iryna Pchelintseva, head of the rehabilitation center.

According to her, the rehabilitation center in Poltava has been operating for almost three years. Almost 1,400 patients have undergone outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation over the past 9 months.
